Training: Spatial statistics in ecology

BIOS² is hosting a training session about statistical analysis of spatial data in ecology. This online training will be led by Pr. Philippe Marchand (UQAT), starting January on 11, 2021.

The training will cover three types of spatial statistical analyses and their applications to ecology: (1) point pattern analysis to study the distribution of individuals or events in space; (2) geostatistical models to represent the spatial correlation of variables sampled at geolocated points; and (3) areal data models, which apply to measurements taken on areas in space and model spatial relationships as networks of neighbouring regions.

Training: Software and Data Carpentry workshops

This Fall (September and October 2020), BIOS² will host a two workshops to introduce Fellows and others to the basics of computer programming and working with data. This training consist of one Software Carpentry workshop (Sept 28-29 & Oct 5-6 @ 12-16 EDT) and one Data Carpentry workshop (Oct 19-20 & Oct 26-27 @ 12-16 EDT).

Training: Data Visualization

There has been a change in dates for the Data Visualization workshop.

The training will be held on October 13-14 @ 1-3 PM (EDT) instead of September 21-22, 2020.

We are pleased to propose another training as part as our series: Training by BIOS² Fellows!

Katherine Hébert and Alex Arkilanian we will be offering a training session on Data Visualization (in English) to be held on October 13-14 from 1-3 PM (EDT).

The training will be split into two sessions, which will covers the general principles of visualization and graphic design, and techniques of tailored visualization. Each training will take the form of a presentation interspersed with several short activity modules, where participants will be invited to use the tools we will be discussing to practice their data visualization skills.
