Hosted by BIOS², this 7-day spa-like detox routine will make you question and re-organize your routine for better productivity and reproducibility of your AMAZING science. Come learn together about trust in open science, open project design, version control, virtual environment and more!

This reproductibility workshop will run from July 4 to July 10 2021, with more offline activities and less expositive tutorials. 100% fun activities that don’t feel like work!

This is the 2021 Call for new BIOS² Fellows.

Applications are due by July 18, 2021.

The Computational Biodiversity Science and Services BIOS² training program is a NSERC-CREATE program. Fellows learn computational and quantitative skills from some of Canada’s best biodiversity scientists and apply skills to solve real-world problems through internships and working groups. BIOS² aims at widening opportunities and skill sets among students and postdoctoral fellows and increasing recruitment in biodiversity science in the Canadian job market.

This Call is intended for graduate students, with or without funding, but the program is open to all.

Students accepted into the BIOS² program will have access to all training activities and financial support, including scholarships and travel grants. More information can be found here: https://bios2.usherbrooke.ca/get-involved/graduate-students/.

Summer School in Biodiversity Modelling 2021

The Summer School in Biodiversity Modelling will take place from August 16-25, 2021 under the theme:

Evaluating Models from Ecological Data

Led by Pr. Dominique Gravel and Dr. Andrew MacDonald (Université de Sherbrooke). Training focused on problem solving and guest speakers (Professors Timothée Poisot, Pedro Peres-Neto, Sandra Hamel, Marc Bélisle and others).

Online and Hybrid Training. The format of the intensive summer school has been revised to accommodate COVID’s restrictions on travel and large group activities. Activities will be accessible remotely, but local gatherings may be arranged if the situation allows.

Training: Creating Shiny applications with R

BIOS² is hosting a training session about creating Shiny applications with R!. This online training will be led by Dr Andrew MacDonald (UdeS), on June 22 and 23, 2021!

This practical training will cover the basics of Shiny app development. You’ll learn the principles of reactive programming, how to create interactive options and displays for your users, and how to layout and style your Shiny app.

Summer School in Biodiversity Modeling
