Introduction to Programming for Research Workshop

As a great start to 2023, BIOS² will present an Introduction to Programming workshop on January 17 and 19, 2023 to introduce new BIOS2 Fellows and everyone else interested to the basics of computer programming, working with data and the skills needed to be productive in collaborative research projects.

The training will be inspired by the Software Carpentry (https://software-carpentry.org), a hands-on workshop that introduces the basics concepts and tools of programming, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

The workshop will be held in 2 sessions, January 17 and 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Eastern time).

The course will be taught online, in English with bilingual support. In addition, there will be a in-person gathering of participants at the University of Sherbrooke. On-site, participants will be supported by French-speaking teaching assistants.

This workshop is free and open to all.

  • We particularly encourage new BIOS2 members to attend this workshop as many upcoming trainings will build on the basic skills taught during the workshop.
  • We also encourage CREUS members to attend the in-person training at the University of Sherbrooke.

Register to workshop: https://forms.office.com/r/b6ACqkdhwN before January 15, 2023.
