Regional drivers of change in freshwater fish abundance

I am interested in looking at the factors that influence freshwater fish abundance. Climate change is expected to change distributions of fish species in North America. It its well understood that regional interspecific patterns in species abundance and range influence local abundances. However there still exists a lot of debate around the mechanisms behind these patterns By expanding studies of freshwater fish in North America beyond presence-absence to abundance, I hope to better understand community assembly and ecological processes structuring fish communities.
