Tracking biodiversity changes in the Anthropocene
Monitoring biodiversity changes is one the most pressing challenge of this century. As global climate change and the sixth extinction accelerate, developing accurate predictions of ecosystem responses is more than ever needed to support more informed conservation actions and thus allow an effective protection of biodiversity. My research project aims at enhancing our ability to monitor and track biodiversity changes by (i) combining existing datasets to identify taxonomic biases and lack of biodiversity knowledge on specific geographical area (ii) implementing statistical methods to estimate richness, extinction and colonization rates at different ecological scale and spatio-temporal resolutions.
