Social-ecological biogeography of Canadian lakes
The main objective of my research project is to conduct the first socio-ecological biogeography of lakes across Canada in order to provide key information for effective protection of aquatic ecosystems. Integrated management of water bodies requires a thorough understanding of their current state, the threats they face and how they are used. In order to provide this valuable information, data on the physico-chemical and morphometric characteristics of a wide range of lakes, present and anticipated threats, and ecosystem services used by the public across Canada will be combined and their relation will be analyzed to create a comprehensive overview of lakes across the country.
