Research interests

I am interested in the relationship between environmental and anthropogenic disturbances and how they affect biodiversity and the functioning of aquatic ecosystems. My research on ecological disturbances is conducted in the Canadian Arctic, the Gulf of St. Lawrence and overseas, from the intertidal zone to the deep sea. More specifically, I study the effects of multiple stressors (e.g., changes in temperature and salinity, decreased ice cover, increased organic matter, etc.) on benthic invertebrates and their functioning. I am trying to answer this question based on experience and direct field measurements in the Arctic. I am also conducting spatial modelling to better understand the future distribution of species such as macroalgae ( in a changing Arctic. Research results are used to develop informed management of our ecosystems.
